Notes victory Spanish forces under Vildosola at Tecoripa; under Joseph de Vsarraga at Tepahue; successful resistance Spaniards at Montesclaros. Discusses raids pueblos, churches Fuerte Valley; aid sent by southern Sinaloa settlements. Describes shortages provisions, funds province, personal finances, due to expenses pacification Indians ysla de California (California still an Island 1740). Notes relief expected from Nueva Vizcaya under Ydoyaga, from Janos under Carpio. Describes ambush vecinos Echojoa in Santa Cruz. States Indian rebels control 30 pueblos, including most along Lower Rios Yaqui, Mayo, Fuerte; that mines Sicurijoa, Alamos, Baroyeca, Rio Chico, Potrero, Ventana abandoned, that commerce/ communication with Sonora impossible; that over 185 leagues held by rebels, that at least 12-14,000 Indians in revolt. Discusses salaries soldiers involved in combating revolt; loans obtained from various vecinos, including Guillermo Feliz. says frs. Mazariegos, Estrada, Mendivil held prisoner by Indians. Mentions one reason for Yaqui-Mayo rebellion rumor Indian leaders Muni, Bernabe, Temea, others killed on visit to Mexico City. States these leaders sent back to Sinaloa-Sonora to help quell revolt; given titles captain, Alferez, Yaqui nation by Audiencia Guadalajara. Notes arrived in Nueva Vizcaya, wheat will be harvested, easing food shortages. Recommends that all possible aid be sent Huidobro from Nueva Vizcaya. (T. Sheridan) (1976)

Notifies viceroy Anza's death at hands Apaches, campaign against Apaches launched by Carpio from Janos, resulting in 13 dead, 14 captured. Discusses Yaqui-Mayo-Pima Bajo rebellion Sinaloa; says relief from Nueva Vizcaya delayed because of food shortages, dry springs caused by drought. Describes efforts to organize relief expedition among vecinos, soldiers, Indians, including Nortenos, Sibolas, Tarahumaras. Notes rebellion, retirement to mountain rancherias 3 pueblos Tarahumaras Partido Papigochic because of disagreements with their missionary, attempts to quell unrest thru peaceful means because of fear rest of matters concerning supplies for relief expedition.
