Summary
Letters from Cancio to viceroy requesting authorization to transfer charge of compania and presidio to another as his debts are mounting enormously; cannot continue paying salaries and supplying troops. Merchants of area no longer giving him credit and he has not requested salary for various years. Viceroy denies request and provides Cancio with large amount of capital to pay all debts and continue in charge of presidio. (A. Dell'acqua, February 1988)
