Ugarte y Loyola reports state of military forces in Nueva Vizcaya, Sonora, Nueva Mexico. Nueva Vizcaya protected by 1) companias volantes of Parras and Saltillo for guarding various places, taking care of horses and remounts and 2) capellanos, Armeros, tambores and Plazas who are used to persecute Indians. Does not mention any compania volante in Sonora or New Mexico, but gives numerical tally of non-compania volante forces. (S. Gibbs, March 1988)
