Summary
Documents concern the king's request (his original petition provided) that Melchor Vidal de Lorca assume the vacant governorship of Nuevo Reyno de Leon and that he is required to pay the Media Annata within one year of taking office. Previous decrees are cited (of 1718 and 1727) that govern regulations and payment of the Media Annata. Civil finances are discussed at length, especially that of the Media Annata. folio 106 is particularly strong - it gives a breakdown of charges and payments required. Other folios deal with Vidal de Lorca's contention that he should be exempted from the Media Annata and the replies he receives which give the laws regulating the Media Annata. (P. Lenz, September 1989)
