Summary
After serving on northern frontier for about 50 years, Cordero wants new position. Virrey Apodaca notes that since Garcia conde has just been appointed comandante general de las Provincias Internas de Occidente, Cordero deserves appointment to intendencia de Durango. Cordero replies that such an appointment would not be a promotion. Requests appointment as comandante general de las Provincias Internas de oriente instead. Appointed to Durango post anyway, taking possession of office July 8, 1818. (T. Sheridan, April 1990)
