Summary
In response to gobernador Huidobro's request for 200 Pima auxiliaries to help him invade Tiburon Island, padre Campos, missionary at San Ignacio, regretfully refuses on grounds that- 1) Alcalde mayor Garro and his successor, Prudhom, fail to protect missionaries and their Indians; 2) Pimas involved in cultivating their fields, harvesting maiz in August and can't leave; and 3) Pimas can't raise or spare supplies for one month of campaigning. Campos does note Seri harassment of Pimas however. (T. Sheridan) (1977)
