Contra Jose Sanchez. Por dar libertad a los reos.
San Jose del Parral. March 26, 1779. 16p. Original. Signed.
Jose Sanchez, a blacksmith, is imprisoned for debts. He causes much trouble in the jail, and escapes in order to liberate 2 women from the women's jail. They decline. Nothing much results from the incident, but the testimony of various prisoners gives an interesting insight into this facet of Colonial society, including the racial overtones. (R. Perez) (1977)
