Summary
This is the original diary of fr. Juan Diaz who accompanied cap. Juan Ansa on the expedition to the Gila and Colorado rivers to open a new route to Monte rey and the missions of California. The diary begins by listing the personnel who were in the expedition, thirty four in all. It starts with the second of January, 1774 and ends with the 22nd of March of the same year. It concludes with the words- concluyo Este diario en esta mission de San gabirel in 8 Dias del Mes de Abril de 1774. this document bears the autograph of fr. Juan Diaz, and the is written in his own hand. (microfilm catalog)
