Summary
Criminal action brought against Alejandro Mora for mistreating an Indian servant, and his wife. Mora was accused of beating them with poles, whipping them, burning them, and not feeding them or providing drinks when they were thirsty. His actions seem related not only to an unbalanced mind, but an extreme form of religious fanaticism. The Indian servant was placed in the household of one Phelipe Tapia, and Mora was ordered to treat his wife with more affection. (R. Jackson) (1980)
