Summary
A criminal action against Bernabe Baca and his son Batasar for disobeying the orders of the Alcalde mayor de Alburquerque and the gobernador in regard to using Indians and the governor in regard to using Indians to care for their livestock, and their use of the pasturage which was reserved for the horse herd to be used in time of warfare against hostile Indians, and for the horses of the Indians. The governor had prohibited the use of Indians as sheperds, especially war captives who had been ransomed by the settlers, because of their tendency to run away to the hostile Indians.
