Travel notes pages 180-188. Shantz arrives in Cradock, where they are having one of the worst droughts ever. Photographs show the plant life and landscape, and he documents the typical plant growth and elevation of these areas: Kapstein, Baroda, Fish River, Conway, Rosmead Junction, Shosborne, Carlton, Naauwpoort Junction, Waldfontein, Dwaal, and De Aar, Cape Province.
