Kaffir melon - side view. M. W. White gave me a Kaffir melon - which had been lying in his "shop" for 5 months and was still in good condition. This melon is popular as a stock melon and for the manufacture of conserve. It has practically a solid flesh and a very resistant rind. It is 14 inches long and about 8 inches in diameter.
