Description
Detail - poles tied in place by ivory palm. I am impressed with the wonderful use of grass by the natives. A few poles cut from any wood - a few palm leaves or bark of Brachystegia?, a little attention to rough detail and the addition of a few bundles of dry grass - lashed down again by palm (ivory) leaves or Brachystegia bark, and you have a wonderfully serviceable shelter at practically no expense. In America galvanized iron or boards make stock shelters far less serviceable - sightly and comfortable. [Shantz travel journal, Nov. 26, 1919]
