Description
Back down the river, shows corn at right and huts at left. We are now going N.E. 50-80Ëš. This is a wonderfully interesting marsh, and suggests an ultimate fate similar to the islands of the San Joaquin in Calif. The natives here have as many as 487 crops of corn coming on at one time with beans and pumpkin also. But corn is the great crop. [Shantz travel journal, Jan. 18, 1920]
