Description
Boys milking. A very interesting process. First calf is turned loose and rushes to cow and begins to feed. Then the legs are tied just above the hock. Three natives keep flies away from the cow. Two pull the calf away and a third milks into a wood container about 4 inch by 8. Give 1 1/2 liter per day. [Shantz travel journal, Feb. 26, 1920]
