Military pay, personnel, passports and provisions. Miners and merchants of Alamos petition transfer from Rosario of fiscal operations to establish Casa in Alamos. Petition by Ugarte y Loyola for transfer to Guadalajara or Mexico. Military escort of Seri prisoners for theft, murder and rebellion to Guadalajara (emotional and strong prejudice displayed). Guns for the compania de Opatas. Detailed accounting for approved expenses of payment office. Ff. 361-362 chart of expenditures for firearms in comandancia general, itemized by military group and rank with totals for each and summaries. Request and receipt of reglamentos de California written by Neve. Ff. 363-366 include long direct quote of Croix from 1782 explaining why urgently needed firearms from Spain have not left Chihuahua for distribution where needed (cf. Original, folios 137-192). (J. Requests for transfer due to hardships of frontier duty. Reglamentos dealing with commerce between provinces of Luisiana and Nueva Espana. Eventual responsibility of vecinos to take over financial support of militias, perhaps using alcabala as revenue. Shipment of supplies and weapons from Veracruz to Havana and windward isles. Sending troops to Texas and Coahuila. Ff. 216-217 report removal of cadete Bernal from Fronteras for repeated thefts; because of relationship to de Anza, lesser punishment given by stationing him in Manila. Documents referring to contraband, murder, sexual crimes, desertions of military personnel, illicit drinks, civil and military appointments within Provincias Internas. By order of king a judge named to deal with illicit drinks. List of Seri families requesting peace. Unification of Seri rebel capitan with Apaches to wage war against Seris who surrendered and thru conquest of other smaller Indian groups to attack Spaniards. Invention of armor by teniente Bertucat and request to king to have licence to construct such armor. Autos against Capitancillo norteno Ramirez. Rebel Taraname Jose Luis sent to Havana's prison to avoid more rebellions in Texas. Civil suit by inhabitants of Villa Nombre de Dios to keep such village under jurisdiction of viceroy instead of Provincias Internas. Summary
Petition of Gracia de Invalidos by Urioste in February, 1793. Borica proposed for military promotion to Zarin, Camarena and Madrid for Segundo alferes in presidio del Carrizal; Zarin is given the promotion in January, 1793. Urrea and Franco are nominated for la tenencia (lieutenant) de la compania presidial de San Agustin del Tupson; Urrea is given the employment in January, 1793. Nava nominates Maynes for capitan de la segunda compania volante; the promotion is accepted in February, 1793. Notification of run away of Indian known as capitan Chiquito from presidio de Arizpe. Capitan Chiquito, and some other Indians and soldiers, are said to have been killed by two bears; same folio mentions Grimarest death without specifying whether he or not he was killed by the Indians. Petition from Gomez in order to obtain Gracia de Invalidos, in feb,. 1793. Nava sends updated map of provincias de Nueva Vizcaya (February, 1793) to virrey. Perez Fernandez is given Alferez promotion for compania del presidio de San Francisco in January, 1793. Diaz de Solorsano is nominated for lieutenant in la septima compania del Cuerpo de milicias de dragones provinciales del Principe, in January, 1793. Nava reports the condition in which the sacred ornaments are, due to the extranamiento de los Jesuitas in a village (whose name is not mentioned). (R.Gomez, January 1989)
