The acquisitioning of medals to be given to indians from the casa de moneda and reimbursement for the cost of the medals, correspondence covers from 1805-1807; letter from Salcedo discussing the minting of the medals; total requested were 100 medals; folios 338 and 339 are partial documents only; folios the possession of balerdi which once belonged to the abolished ways and means of militias; the sum was a product of the contributions of various people and therefore now belong to the real hacienda; matter has been taken up by the real tribunal y audiencia de la contaduria mayor; folio 335 says only Sonora; folio 0346 concerns the naming of ramos to alcalde for the santa hermandad in the jurisdiction of gualican; folio 0347 concerns the complaint of saenz rico's sister in law that he does not support his children in Mexico, decision made to deduct 40 pesos monthly from his salary towards this end; folio 0347 covers an expediente dealing with military promotions (no names mentioned); folio 0349 concerns the termination of position of contador de menores filled by vazquez Franco with correspondence telling him of his rights and privileges; folios 0350-0351 outline expediente that deals with why tributes were not collected from rosario. Summary
Corbalan informs Croix that he sent troop Inspections and Croix responds that he has received them. Corbalan also lists monthly salaries of military personnel and Croix replies that he knows about the changes of salaries. Corbalan acknowledges merits of two officials to serve virrey. Croix relays to Corbalan requests for sick leaves for several persons. Croix appoints Velena as interim governor; Corbalan congratulates Croix on promotion; Corbalan has received letters from governor of California and commissioner of Loreto regarding need of food supplies there and an account of goods for the Monterey military expedition. Two maritime districts are created, San Blas and Veracruz, offices established and regulations outlined-special emphasis on dealing with deserters; dispatch of transportation to Acapulco to pickup Areche; surgeons named to ships destined for California; Salazar turns down offer to be chaplain for ships to California; notice of pay raise; certifaction of aptitude of Martinez; ship la conception incapable of trip to California because of broken keel, turned into flat-bottomed boat; good ships for travel to California and Sonora, and conversion of ship to flat-bottom sworn to by ships officers; original request and grant of pay raises; request that Sister of Bausa be sent part of his salary as support. Arteaga ill with eye infection thus can not go on ship; diary of Arteagas eventual trip to California, describes in general terms being blown off course, unloading ballast in Monterrey, transporting Neve, drops of supplies in presidios along coast, is followed by a Spy ship, drops off and picks up passengers including missionaries at San Carlos and Santa Clara; short, detailed list of supplies received signed by Junipero Serra and Gallo; addendum of Artega's diary describes San Francisco bay; Hijosa requests return to Spain, arrangments for successor; notice of arrival of two new surgeons in San Blas with salaries; Hijosa clears his accounts in order to get permision to leave San Blas (p.
