Autos against Mercado accussed of the attack and several wounds caused to Armas; Armas is sent to the Hospital while Mercado is put under arrest until the trial begins to clarify who was responsible. Armas is questioned and he accuses Mercado. All the witnesses declare against Mercado. Mercado tries to excuse himself saying that he was drunk. Declaration of a soldier that witnessed the murder of a mailman by an Indian party. A detailed account of the event is given. On the Basis of the style of the arrows they think they could have been Apaches, but some doubts arise from the fact that they were naked and that they let the soldier flee. Summary
Sending original autos to governor Fages, lieutenant Diego Gonzales of San Diego brings forth criminal case against Yepes for having wounded 27-year-old cabin Boy Bueno of the frigate favorita. Includes Gonzales' interrogations of Bueno, Juan Antonio Gonzales, Segura, Morales, Vega, Otondo and Yepes. Includes certification by surgeons Carbajal and Comamalle of treatment of 5 wounds and medically specific locations of wounds. Yepes' punishment (issued by Navarro) is to work with rations but without salary for 6 years with his feet shackled- in public works. (J. Hiller, December 1988)
