Summary
Canito Charged with murder and robbery as leader of combined band of Indians (Pimas, Jocomes, xuma and Janos). His state appointed lawyer does well, getting the sentence reduced from death to 2 years at hard labor, by appealing to the governor. An excellent example of Spanish judicial system and how Indians were treated in it. Part of his salvation is his conversion to catholocism while in jail. (T. Barnes) (1976)

A group of mulato and indio slaves of Domingo Apresa Falcon, led by Salvador, raid hacienda of Felipe de la Cueba Montano, killing and wounding some indio slaves of his. Felipe's guard Cristobal Madrid kills some of Domingo's group. Both sides go to court. Salvador confesses- sentenced to work silver mines. Domingo to pay 100 pesos plus court costs 629 pesos. (R.
