Mentions Hurdaide's successful efforts to reduce Indians in mountains, including some Chinipas, Guacapares, Taraumaros (Tarahumaras), who are now friends of Spaniards after Hurdaide foiled attempt by some Coes to enlist mountain Indians (Cimarrones) in attempt to murder frs. Informs viceroy peaceful state Sinaloa, even during Tepehuan revolt. Describes trouble caused by tlatole Juan de Messa, Criollo from Culiacan who killed another Spaniard, fled north. Hurdaide followed him to land Guazapares (warihio group), who trapped him in cave, burned him, cut off his hands, Head, gave them to Hurdaide as sign of fidelity. Discusses proposal to divide Sinaloa province in 2 parts. Asks to be relieved of his post, given position allowing him to care for family, pay debts more than 40,000 pesos expended in conquest Sinaloa. Complains of difficulties with padre visitor Villafane.
