Several letters from Castro to virrey requesting instructions or sending information about the Indian enemies; Castro reports that enemy tracks are everywhere, that he urgently needs Nava's troops. Informs virrey that famous story of capitan Tovar killing two Indian leader in battle is not true; virrey requests summary of the facts. Reorganization of presidios involves the creation of a permanent patrol which will keep Indians under control. Apaches are also known as Xilenos. Series of documents dealing with gubernatorial correspondence against Indians, prisoners are taken, 32 casualties are inflicted on Indian forces including women and children; Capitancillo antel turned himself in after his Father capitancillo Chiquito was devoured by a bear; military campaign is launched against Indians who had stolen horses, actions left several soldiers killed by Indians in a prolonged battle; Lipanes surrendered and went to live at the presidios after they were offered good treatment; report is given that Indians are engaged in a controversy among themselves, situation that would favor an alliance with Spaniards; statistical chart showing number of Indians who are in peace with Spaniards, chart includes men, women and children in rancherias which are named with the name of the Indian leader. Berroteran solicits promotion for his contribution in exterminating cucuyomes. Documents continue process of selecting Alferez for presidio of Parras. Summary
Concerns publication (book ?), of administrative proceedures sent from conde de Galvez to Ugarte y Loyola regarding the governing of Provincias Internas del oriente and Occidente. Specificies the kind of events the commanders of each province muist report back. Document comprises gives a break down of the many characteristics that Spanish colonization implemented in the conquest of Indian territories. Strategies of the conquest are explained in this document, such as use of Indian controversies to facilitate their reduction. History of how the conquest began is given. Document explains trade Spaniards had with some Indian nations in order to subjugate them. Specific indications of what type of activities were allowed for Indians under Spaniard's domination is given. Characteristics of several Indian nations are provided, such as which one was friendly and/or hostile. (this document is a very important summary of almost all kind of activities the Spanish conqueror had to implement in their fight against tricks used, legislation among provinces, judicial organization, religious strategies etc. Etc.).
