Summary
Legalistic- shows residential restraints the Indians lived under. Good. Tributary races cannot move without proper certificatos. On the frontier no one may move owing to Apache menace. No fees can be Charged for the certificates. Indians cannot remain on haciendas and Ranchos to work indefinitely but must return to their town priests. Indians who do not comply to be arrested as vagrants and given 20 lashes for 1st offense, 40 for second and year of hard labor for 3rd. For others 1st offense is 2 Months, 2nd 4 month and 3rd 10 years military service on frontier. (T.n.) (1975)

Auditor marques de Altamira (pp.107-114) states Spaniards must protect 3 missions along Rio San Xavier in order to set good example for Indians. Mentions that Indians of San Ildefonso had fled that mission. States 48 soldiers to be detached from 6 presidios (San Juan Bautista, Espiritu Santo, San Antonio, Coahuila, Sacramento, Adaes), stationed among new missions. Summary
Orders that the indio Asencio be taken from a coal mine belonging to teniente Tomas de Marcos and returned to his Pueblo. Furthermore Marcos is to be warned that he is under no circumstances to employ any indio that does not have proper license to leave his Pueblo. The comandante is also ordered to round up all indios that have been out looking for Asencio, for this also is against the law. (R. Perez) (1977)

Summary
Various Parral officials, including capitan comandante de milicias Nicolas de Bustamante, complain about escandolos publicos and gente ociosa in Parral and prohibit public congregations in the Side streets (vendimias), where pecados between men and women frequently occur, as well as fandangos in private homes without a license, juegos de naipes, etc. All gente ociosas, Sin destino are to be arrested and put to work in mines. juegos de pelota, and firing arms after dark also forbidden. Related document, also by Bustamante (2/23/1787) states that no vecinos or sirvientes can leave their pueblos, haciendas or Ranchos without written permission of alcalde o de el Senor Cura o de el respectivo dueno de hacienda o rancho. Antonio Maria, an Apache from las Cuevas, is apprehended in minas Nuevas for suspicious behavior, and on suspicion that he's spying for enemy Indians. He claims he's a Tarahumara, but has no traveling papers. Testimony includes observations of Apache camps with stolen livestock (and some description of herding technology) and large herd of horses.
