A Series of letters between Vaamonde and the virrey out an execution when in his area there was no official execution by using a Former Negro slave to perform the execution, orders for Vaamonde to travel to Punto de Lamparos, decree prohibiting Indians from leaving their homes unless they have necessary papers from district judge, parrish priest, or minister of documents, Vaamonde's deteriorating health during trip to Punto de lamparaos and subsequent rehabilitation in saltilo, compliance with an order to determine status of any peace initiatives with Indians of the area, the terms of any peace agreements and manner in which Indians have abided by said agreements, complying with order to make Nava inspector in addition to his current rank as comandante general and brigadier. Summary
Series of documents dealing with the pacification of the Mescalero Apaches. Discussion of methods to assist them in sedentary agricultural life, and Apaches complain they like to move around in their hunting and gathering ways of life. There is also discussion of restricting Indian movements by requiring travel permits. there is also discussion of the revolt of some Mimbrenos and Mescaleros in which some soldiers were killed; Ugarte mobilizes his troops and some Indian auxiliaries in attempt to control rebel Indians. In some letters there is also discussion of fomenting animosity between the different Indian groups so they can be better controlled. (J. Tapia, September, 1987)

Summary
Discusses failure of peace treaty promised by Bucareli to inhabitants of Coahuila. Friendship with naciones del Norte has proven to be fraudulent, their entrance to Coahuila must be avoided or better solution must be found. Also discusses possible warfare with inhabitants of new presidios and conflict between Comanches and Lipanes over stolen horses. Description of murder of Vecino and soldier by either Comanches, Apaches, or Tancaoues. Also unsuccessful campaigns against these Indians by a Sergeant. Also refers to harm done by Taranames, Taouacanes, Tancaoues, etc. And doubtful conversion of Taranames. (M. Vasquez, January 1988)

Lopez y Padilla argues for reduction of military presence in Nayarit based on passivity of native inhabitants. Describes concentration of Indians into three pueblos by Jesuits, with further security provided by restrictions on travel and possession of weapons. Argues that danger to missionaries minimal due to presence of Milicia at nearby silver mine and the fact that entire area is surrounded by Spanish settlements. (A. Tukey, July 1988)

Summary
Discourse from Lumbreras, commandant of presidio San Carlos de Buenavista to marques de Croix concerning mistreatment of Indians at hands of fray Francisco Cordon. In his letter, Lumbreras complains that Indians of his jurisdiction cannot tend their fields due to labor required of them by fray Cordon in construction of mission church. Such punishment is appropriate, how and by whom it is to be meted out; travel restrictions for Indians; relationship between military authority (comandante presidial) and Indian civil authority (gobernador y Alcalde) at Buenavista. Also included are Cordon's reply to these accusations, and virrey's subsequent response. (J. H. Ochs, July 1987)
