Comprobante 1 comprises letters from Fuentes (Capellan of Valle del Pilon) to Vaamonde complaining about the corruption of Pariente for bribery, misappropriation of funds, etc. Comprobante 2, vecinos from Valle de la Mota ask the governor to be separated from Valle del Pilon (5 Leguas) and suggest the limits of the new jurisdiction. Vaamonde concedes the petition, designating the new teniente de justicia, Fernandez, who in turn denounces (comprobante 3) that Pariente used the Milicianos to impede him in assuming his post. Corrales' believes behavior warrants Guemes' expulsion from village, even provincia; includes testimonios, letters from teniente y justicia mayor, others village residents, vouching for Corrales' observations; Sierragorda orders Guemes into custody of captain Serna, who will punish him justly. Includes several 'comprobantes' of 'autos' in which witnesses testify about accepting bribes (cohechos) or tell of others who have accepted bribes from Vaamonde; first 'comprobante' deals with allegations that Ugalde's company so in need of mules in 1792, due to drought, that Vaamonde traded 'tenientazgo' for thirty Head; second deals with allegations that Vaamonde bribed judge in case dealing with man who cut another's hand; in lengthy, detailed rebuttal (30 folios), Vaamonde responds to each of 17 charges of malfeasance, arguing that some actions misinterpreted, most allegations without justification. Documents concern murder of Casimiro de Ibarra by his Brother Juan. Both had been drinking pulque and a fight ensued. And Casimiro is killed by his Brother. Rest of documents interview witnesses about what happened. Casimiro's widow and Father are interviewed and Owner of shack where they had been eating tamales and drinking pulque. Father's biography given. His military record and his long service in pacification of the new colony. Other witnesses are friends of the Ibarra family who also tell of the family background. Defendant's confession is taken. His goods confiscated. Many documents dont concern the case , but rather slow process of the proceedings. Witnesses are found after too long a period of time. They are questioned improperly and procedure is said to have been ignored in the judicial process of this murder case. After these documents, case is resumed and Juan de Ibarra is finally sentenced to eight years in the fronteirs of Veracruz. Virrey changes sentence due to defendant's long detainment due to the slowness of trial. Sentence is four years of presidio in work of fortifying the Plaza of la Habana. Documents concern the breaking of peace by the Indians, their banditry and assorted killings. Interrogation of witnesses concerning knowledge of the Indians, of their breaking of the peace, and their crimes is given. F. 189 contains a list of the four points asked of each witnesses. 12 witnesses' responses to these questions follow with accounts of Indian attacks, their stealing of horses, and killing of various soldiers. One soldier killed at Pasaje de Noche Buena, for example. Other documents concern the groupings of various Indian tribes (mesquites, Mulas, and other nations) in order to assault the Villa of Padilla. A description of the persecution of these wayward Indians by the Spaniards is given. Last, there is an account of how the Indians should be brought into mission life and given to agriculture. It is said that under previous peace treaties, the Indians had been brought into the missions, had been given instruction in the planting of maize Frijoles and other agricultural pursuits and had been pacified and converted to christianity.
