Concerns Indian raid on Rio de San Marcos by Lipanes after they had sent emissaries to speak with military; letter which mentions some intertribal hostilities between Lipanes and Tarcahues; information on marriage custom in which male Lipanes married female Vidais and Orcoquizacs and male Orcoquizacs marrying female Lipanas; Munoz suggests that gift promised the Lipanes be given them in order to engender trust; letter to Munoz advising him to be aware of the danger inherent in allowing Lipanes to form alliances with Indians of north; mention of a possible negotiation with Lipanes for which Ugalde is instructed to bring any captives he holds to San Antonio realizing that that this is not possible for two days because there is a war being fought by Vidays, Orcoquizacs, Atacapas, and Cocos against Tarcahues; accusation that Comanches may have been aided by soldiers in attacking Mescaleros- disputed by military, possibly Indians using uniforms of Spanish killed in earlier battles; goods given over to Comanche leader - horses, mirrors, tobacco, Vermillion. Troncoso commissioned to take up post as Segundo teniente to work out peace with Indians of Sonora and Nueva Vizcaya; he refuses, preferring to remain in Santa Fe with family; women referred to as his wife, daughter of Coronel de Ansa; Troncoso famed as tactful negotiator with Comanches; recommendation made that he be demoted to capitan de Milicias, with salary consequently too low to keep family fed; various letters dealing with officers' promotions; eventually agreement reached that he remain in Santa Fe as segunda teniente, and other officers take up post in Sonora and Nueva Vizcaya; very interesting documents. Visitador Campos accuses Benavides of various scandalous behaviors and has him removed from post of vice-custodio; Benavides appeals this move, goes to comandante general with several complaints about Campos; townspeople of Benavides' Former post complain about new missionary appointed by Campos; other letters of complaint sent regarding Campos, all brought to capital by Benavides as evidence; ultimately recommendation made that both men be retired to avoid further scandal; folios of (D. F.106 is unrelated to following documents, concerns damming up of water at Portal de los Agustinos and Refugio. Ff.107-113 concern Maldonado selling a lot in San Lucas Barrio to Briceno. Briceno thinks price he paid is unfair, wants part of payment back. Maldonado won't pay, so Briceno tries to exact payment from her Husband, Trugillo. Request to send family of Diaz Solorzano 20 peso per month; notice that verification of funds be obtained at real Caxa of Chihuahua; sixth months of salaries to be held in real Caxa against transfer to family; Diaz writes that he spent his money while traveling and requests that money be spent out of Caxa from fianza of Ramirez; notice that monthly support given and contract of fianzero Ramirez filled; wife of Diaz receives first payment and requests 60 pesos More, reply that 80 pesos already liquidated and none left in treasury; wife acknowledges 80 pesos, but again requests added funds for her support. Describes their grain crops, textiles, baptisms and marriages. Complains of a lack of missionaries. Summarizing the circumstances of his trial for marrying without a license and the favorable final report, Vaamonde asks the auditor de guerra to be forgiven and assigned a new post in order to recover economically. The answer tells him to wait the resolution of the royal authorities. He repeats his request in a long letter addressed to the viceroy were he makes an apologetic account of his whole career.
