Gobernador Cruzat y Gongora convokes junta de guerra to deal with Apache problems. After receiving various opinions and plans, gobernador orders teniente Bernardo Bustamante to lead a detachment of soldiers from Santa Fe and Albuquerque, as well as some Indians from the pueblos, to locate Apache rancherias. The gobernador outlines the case against the Cumanchas and establishes a junta de guerra - the members of which give their opinions as to the initiation of a campaign against the Cumanchas. The majority are in favor of defending and avenging the Jicarillas, loyal vassals of the crown - though not yet christians.
