Concerns complaints of Diaz de Luna by his troops in trip to capital with Indian prisoners. Discussion of poor financial circumstances of San Antonio de Bejar company and necessary transactions of funds. Receipt of dispatch about military positions for Cortesand Rabago. Nava has circulated order on use of everyday uniforms. Concerns pensions for widows of 2 Riogrande soldiers; details of soldiers' deaths from Indian attacks, and merits of each. Nava's receipt of orders during his March to Saltillo; receipt and accomplishment of order to not attack English or other fishing ships nor their establishments. Enriques informs Nava of his illness as he is accused of arriving late to Chihuahua with mail pouch. Receipt of memorial from deputy of commerce in Chihuahua and taxes not Charged to merchants. Summary
Lengthy Series of documents about loans made to Ugarte while he was in Spain and others made in Mexico. Loan in Spain needed to pay for travel expenses to Mexico. Loans in Mexico for his expenses to get to Coahuila, and for maintenance of presidios. Mention that Ugarte unable to repay loan due to his small salary and requests an increase. Several documents are from his creditors trying to recover money from real hacienda. some creditors request interest on loans. Many of the letters are from civil officials verifying loans and seeking ways to repay them. Finally, loans are paid by the royal treasury, and Ugarte thanks viceroy for covering loans and asks for a copy of this transaction. (J. Tapia, March, 1988)
