Letter from Alderete to viceroy mentions sending diario of presidial activities from July 18, 1768 to February 5, 1769 but diary not included. Instead, diary recounts activities from depredations committed by enemy Indians, problems with horses, means of livelihood, battles with Indians, routine military activities, and pursuit of specific Indian perpetrators. Documents are of four types: Ff. 382-385 from Hijosa to Bucareli announce departure of Goleta Sonora (Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe) carrying memorias and efectos to Loreto and other California missions. Discussion of crew and change of command because of illness. F. 386 and ff. 399-400 are bills of lading for transported cargo. Ff. 387-388 is incomplete list of food supplies aboard, (dried) meat and fish, bread. Ff. 389-398 are extremely detailed inventories of the Goleta, including dimensions, volume capacity, hull, masts, rigging, quarters, keel, rudder, hold, tools, anchors, cables, auxiliary boats, etc. (J. Documents refer to travel from Cadiz to Veracruz of eleven missionaries captured by French pirates, imprisoned on Island of Guadalupe. Liberated by Englishmen who shipped them to puerto Rico where five of these missionaries died; others shipped to Veracruz for missions in California. Documents detail expenses incurred by crown for their support, transportation, cure and burial. Monies paid to officials for same issues. (A. Dell'acqua, may 1988)

Documents between governor, viceroy and religious officials regarding orders given that no soldier can spend night outside his presidio. Missionary personnel question decisions as they have to spend nights in Indian rancherias while ministering; military escort has to do same.
