Summary
Series of documents concerning the request to buy a ship and to conduct a commercial exchange of food and goods between Mexico and California using the frigate Concepcion. Correspondence mentions problems with fraud and contraband with commercial shippers. Perez is given permission to buy ship and to carry out a commercial expedition between San Blas and California in which he was ordered to obey all laws of Spain and America and to report all incidences, exchanges and people that he comes in contact with. Summary
Series of documents concerning voyage of Goleta Valdez from San Blas to Acapulco. Correspondence about storm which delayed arrival in Acapulco, also problems with the Piloto's illness during the voyage along with Naval inquiries about the diario of the Piloto not being completed and inefficiency of reporting procedures (1-17); correspondence requesting permission to build a Wall around a Naval casement in San Blas to protect it from fires which seem to be prevalent in the surrounding mountains; includes construction contract and budget (18-23). Series of documents concerning voyage of the ship San Pedro de Alcantara from Cadiz to Veracruz includes inventory of supplies with values; correspondence deals with arrangements for pick up and delivery of supplies (24-43). Notification to San Blas, Acapulco, and California governors in order for them to provide necessary help to French ships in their exploration trips. The letters warn them not to permit the French to smuggle any kind of goods. Concerns de la Bodega y Quadra's trip to Lima in order to bring Azoque (mercury) to San Blas. de la Bodega y Quadra's proposes that if he is unable to get mercury that he pay for the trip by bringing back weapons, fruits, and other goods from Lima and Panama.
