Summary
Periodic reports from leaders of destacamentos relating new events; most reports say nothing was happening. Copy of itinerary of one Destacamento listing pueblos and haciendas they were to visit from Fresnillo to Durango, and distances in Leguas. Complaints that regimiento spent more money because of high cost of maiz and maintenance of horses. Lasso de Vega is unable to make March to Chihuahua because he has too few horses and money. Posada reports illness of Montante in one report, and later says he is inutil para el real cervicio. (D. Marksz, February 1987)

Lengthy expediente of letters from commandant of Chihuahua, to viceroy describing Indian depredations and Spanish efforts to control them. Most takes place in central Chihuahua and there is good information on routes of various military patrols. Generally indicated the Apaches have things pretty much their own way. Considerable mention of O'Conor and Munoz. (T. Naylor) (1977) includes captains report from Santa Gertrudis de Altar describing menace and growing strength of Apaches in his area. (D. Summary
A relatively detailed ethnohistory of Julimeno Indians in Coahuila; Ugarte argues they should be deported to Havana; provides many comments on Julimeno origins, movement into province from Nueva Vizcaya (1737), and subsequent interaction with Spaniards; few details on Indian lifeways have been included; most comments focus on Julimenos secret hostility towards Spaniards, locations of their communities, and their alliance with hostile Apaches; other information provided on Apache raids and population distributions on province's frontiers. Summary
Cancio reports on state of affairs and activities at Santa Rosa presidio. Discusses problems with weapons and their inadequacy in battle, problems with enlistments and quality of soldiers, and charges against Rabago made by Alderete. Uniform and weapon supply list of items requested from Mexico (f.130). Cancio provides detailed report on review he made of conditions of troops, weapons, fighting ability, number of horses, uniforms and other supplies (ff. 131-132). In other letters reports on number of soldiers from presidio assigned to nearby places and missions, and notes difficulty in getting reports to viceroy due to distance. Ff. 138-139 contains letters from Cancio about his trip to Santa Rosa written at real de Charcas and Saltillo. Discusses condition of roads, Weather, and number of days until he reaches destination. Some notes from on his trip, his reports back on situation at presidio, and Indian activities in area of presidio. Letter by Cancio to viceroy from Mexico on September 18, 1761, mentions letter from February about his orders to go to presidio. (S. Fiederlein, 3-3-87)

Succinct explanation of arguments found in folios 247, 254 and 255. Report on missions includes modus operandi of priests in offering religion to indians and geographic position of missions. (M.
