The Sam Hughes Neighborhood, just east of the UofA campus, was the presitge residential area through the 1920s, 30s and 40s. Today it is a wonderfully diverse, largely liberal, architecturally rich and very expensive are which still retains the feel of a real "neighborhood"

The history of the Colonia Solana Neighborhood begins in 1907 when Thomas Brown moved to Tucson, leased 160 acres near the sanitorium where his wife was recouperating, and built a house. The sanitorium became the El Conquistador Hotel and his acreage became Tucson's first suburban subdivision
