Documents deal with E. Barry's request to be allowed to marry M. de la Paliza. Copy of testimony by several people that Paliza is legitimate daughter of J. a. Lopez de la Paliza and C. Gil de Corona. Detailed testimony by several persons of limpieza de sangre of la Paliza lineage. Lineage is traced back to Spain with mention of Noble background of family; mentions that in lineage there is no bad blood, such as that of moors, jews or other castes. (J. Tapia, March 1988)

Several letters deal with appointment of new council members in Parras and Saltillo; their confusion as to whether they should report to Durango or Coahuila. Mention of payment of media anata by civil officials. Other letters deal with discussion of whether Parras and Saltillo belong to jurisdiction of Nueva Vizcaya or Coahuila. See also serial 0002. (J. Series of lengthy documents dealing with formation of comandancia general del Poniente and comandancia general del oriente; Nueva Vizcaya belongs to Former, Coahuila to latter. Most documents concern whether Parras and Saltillo belong to Nueva Vizcaya or to Coahuila. Jurisdiction of Parras and Saltillo are important for proper collection of taxes and payment of media anata. other documents deal with requests from local municipal officials as to whether they should obey orders from Diaz de Hortega or Fueros. Some officials are threatened with imposition of fines if they do not follow orders from Fueros or Diaz de Hortega. Misunderstandings occur because prior to separation of two comandancias, Parras and Saltillo fell under jurisdiction of Nueva Vizcaya, and later were placed under Coahuila. (J. Tapia, February 1988)

Series of letters between Castro, Emparan, and Revilla Gigedo concerning Castro's complaints against Emparan. Castro accuses Emparan of hautiness, insubordination, shirking gubernatorial duties, disrespect towards Castro's wife, and lack of pundonor. Castro expresses displeasure at Emparan's being sworn in as governor. Bulk of letters treat Emparan's leaving a town without comandante general Castro's permission. Argument between Emparan and Castro over who's rank is higher is in part resolved by Revilla Gigedo's attempt to end argument by guillambaud's medical evaluation of Emparan's intestinal illness, vague discussion of all-around under-manning of presidial troops, brief reports of Indian theft of animals, and murders near Iguana and Boca de Leones, Emparan's defense of Fueros as a good, honorable soldier who was attacked by Ugalde for some unknown reason. Documents end with bibliographic index of administrative correspondence which is not included in entry. (S. Gibbs, may 1988)

Series of notes of receipt/dispatch for Florez' letters complaining that Castro, who ordered Florez to relocate immediately to Santa Rosa Valley, made Florez lose honor by detaining him too long. Castro denies that any honor was lost; length of Florez' sojourn in Santa Rosa was Accidental. (S. Gibbs, April 1988)
