Mexico. July 9, 1796 to January 27, 1797. 28p (Approximately). Annotated accounts. Signed.
Summary
Liquidation of accounts and salary of Rivera y Moncada by the contaduria mayor. Inclusive for years 1774 until his death in 1781 on California expedition, for service as capitan of presidio of Loreto and comandante of presidio of Monterrey. Purchasing, outfitting and maintaining horses, mules; weapons recruits and settlers on expedition with breakdowns of expenditures by amounts, dates and to whom or for what payments made. References made to many past reglamentos. Most interesting for internal discussions within real hacienda of problems reconstructing payments for reconciling salaries; and for details on career of Rivera y Moncada. (J. M. Johnson, November 1988)

Nueva orleans, Mexico. May 19, 1789, December 31, 1791. 32p. Peticiones. Copies.
Summary
Considering the annexation of Luisiana to the Spanish colonies, de Blanc (commander of the army) requests an extension of the jurisdiction of Natchitoches (Luisiana), establishing the limit with Nacodoches (Texas) in the Savina River. This would give the local population access to good farming land and better resources in general, and would thus strengthen this important frontier. The proposal is accepted. Two reports on this issue included in the expediente summarize the process of colonization of the territory between Texas and Luisiana, and how it was affected by the transference of Luisiana to Spain and by changes in the relations with the Indians. Summary
Former vecinos of the presidio de los adaes ask permission to settle in territory that belonged to the extent mission of the Aix Indians, where they can find fertile land for farming. Few months ago they were suddenly ordered to abandon los adaes --where they were having a prosperous life-- leaving most of their belongings and facilities they had constructed. At present they are living in misery and cannot find appropriate land near Bexar to found a new village. The Audiencia of Mexico decides to give them authorization. (A. Nielsen, November 1989)

Mexico, zelaya. August 16, 1720, December 23, 1720. 80 p. Informes, autos. Signed, copies.
Summary
Guindo (marques de San Miguel de Aguayo's agent) accuses Ossorio (corregidor of Zelaya) of having extorted the residents of the city by putting them in jail and confiscating their possessions in order to force them to go to the presidio of Texas. Guindo was in charge of moving the people, and in his report provides a complete list of them including name, age, ethnic filiation, marital status, number of children (if any) and a physical description of each adult male (total 117). Almost all of them are said to have been in prison for one or one and a half months before the expedition. A medical doctor examined all of them and those who were sick are listed with a description of the desease. The authorities send an agent to Zelaya to find out about the accusations. He takes declarations from several vecinos but none of them support the charges against Ossorio. Prospective soldiers were imprisoned because most of them were vagrant and fled to the countryside when they knew about the levy. Therefore, Ossorio had to send commissaries to bring them back, and had to keep them in jail in order to provide the number of persons he was required to have, but he did not take any profit out of it. Finally, Ossorio wants to start a process against Guindo for calumny. (A. Nielsen, November 1989)
