Notice of revision of ramo de alcavalas of the provinces of Nuevo Santander; governor receives copies of bandos from the viceroy (bandos are related to prohibition of commerce among employees of ramo de rentas); viceroy authorizes military escort for Munoz, who is traveling to Texas; notice that people of tributary classes must get a licence to get out of domicile; viceroy gives recommendations about dealing with ships claiming to be whale hunting; Cierragorda receives order to release Alferez de Tula; notice is given that Mugier's case be reviewed; titulo de Castilla is given to Serena; Cierragorda receives copies of Bando giving pardon to people guilty of contraband (M. Correspondence concerning observations made by Mariscal de Campo while visiting Villas in Nuevo Santander; comments on mines inspected in Tamaulipa, recommendations for various modifications in mining procedures and policies; Mariscal informs of illegally imported tobacco confiscated by his men; describes state of hacienda de Dolores where Indians receive little religious education, stresses need for such influence as well as for proper protection of Indians by all missions; itemizes taxes and other money collected at each town for real hacienda; Mariscal's companion in charge of 'repartimiento'; both men involved in selection of gobernador Interino. Izquierdo is forced into the army as punishment for dealing in contraband in puerto de Tampico and Barras de Panuco. Designation and employments for ship la favorita, which is commanded by de la Bodega y Quadra in exploration trips. Hixosa is sent to Spain; his job as comissary in puerto de San Blas is given to Ruiz. Concerns problems related to lack of supplies in presidio of Loreto. Hezeta, de la Bodega y Quadra, and Quiroz are sent to Habana in order to serve in the war against England. (R. Gomez, may 1989)

Summary
Describes death of Indian from San Jose caused by Apaches. Discusses Ripperda's eagerness to take charge of government of Comayagua and impossibility of doing so; Apache raids, trade of weapons, and emphasis on their entrance to Bexar without weapons. Ripperda thanks Bucareli for recommending him as brigadier, also sends his service records. Also extract of letters from Ripperda to Bucareli received on January 13,1777 mentioning mistake of enumeration of letters, auction of contraband goods taken from Vidal, and attack and subsequent killing of 4 Comanches. Also documents discussing in detail items up for auction taken from Vidal and various declarations from witnesses incriminating Vidal. Letters asking for artillery and assigning priest to town of Bucareli. Also mentioning correspondence with Mecieres, peace with Indians, and conflict between Ramos and Cazorla. Granting of permission to give gunpowder and weapons to Indians, complain about illegal commerce and misbehaviour of inhabitants of Bucareli. (M. Vasquez, March 1988)
