Soldiers attack Apaches killing several. Apaches attack merchant near Cananea destroying mining tools, and they also steal horses in reveicu; Apaches kill friendly Indians in Bac, and killed other people in Cumpas. Seris and Pimas kill people in Santa Barbara, Sauce, and in Pitic they kill friendly Indians. Troops dispatched to Buenavista and San Joseph to protect area. Soldiers attack Seris and Pimas in Sauce killing several Indians. Pineda states soldiers are in continous movements but since there are so many places where the Indians come from, impossible to search for all of them. (J. Tapia, may, 1988)

Tienda informs Cruillas of his attempt to have Pimas and Seris live peacefully and settle down. Indians are promised pardons if they obey king and accept christianity. Seris will be given land to cultivate, and Pimas will be allowed to go back to their missions. Tienda believes Indians more willing to compromise due to last campaign in which some Indians were killed. List of number of Indians killed, and mentions several rancherias were burnt down. Tienda hopes that later he will spend all energy combating Apaches. (J. Tapia, April, 1988)

Tienda reports several Apache raids; Apaches kill people, take captives, and steal cattle near fronteras; soldiers kill some Indians and recover cattle. Apaches kill people and take horses near Terrenate. Soldiers encounter and fight Apaches along Jilla River. Troops of fronteras and Terrenate have been reinforced, and several soldier groups search for Apaches. In a fight near Chirriones soldiers recover an Opata and a Yaqui Indian taken captives by Apaches. Vildosola states Apaches seek peace and want to exchange prisoners with soldiers. Apaches state they want to be good and will behave; they want prisioner exchange to take place away from presidio for fear of being captured. Vildosola agrees hoping that Apaches would settle in reducciones. other documents on various raids conducted by Pimas and Seris. Pimas attack Soyapa killing people, taking cattle, and later hide in Cerro Prieto. Seris and Pimas kill people, take captives and cattle in Cumuripa. Soldiers attack them near Cerro Prieto killing some Indians and recovering cattle. Due to these raids, Tienda plans new campaigns against different Indian groups. (J. Tapia, April, 1988)

Ugarte informs Flores of vacated Alferez positions in Bavispe and Bacoachi. He suggests Grijalva and marques for positions, for having proved worthy in campaigns against Apaches and Seris. Discourse between the governor of Sonora and the viceroy concerning various matters of provincial administration as to absent viceregal proclamations concerning issuance of new coinage, mail franchises, and announcement of birth of Infante Carlos Clemente (ff. 309-315). Concerning gubernatorial visita Colonel of provincial militias of Pardos y Blancos of several jurisdictions to Juan Antonio Caneda, Vecino of Rosario; brief letter, written at Mazatlan stating that, Sastre, as governor, will protect and give assistance to missionaries, destroy abuses committed against Indians... etc. Letters written at Culiacan and Alamos discuss order to send viceroy intendente Corbalan's financial account of military expedition of Sonora; response to viceroy's order that said intendente make visita of mines of province; formation of flying company under command of O'Conor to put down Indian unrest in Chihuahua (See below); governor's suggestion that if Indian named Calixto does not mend his rebellious ways, then prison sentence be considered (315-335). Two lists of Apaches de Paz at Bacoachi. One gives the name of the Head of the household with the age, sex and relation of others in the family and then totals for men, women, boys and girls. 126 Apaches de Paz at Bacoachi. The 2nd list shows mortality among the Apaches de Paz since December 3, 1786. Again names, and age and sex breakdown are given but in addition the deaths are divided into categories of violent and natural. There were 41 deaths in the 2 year period.
