Concerns a complaint lodged by Serna relating to adulteress behavior of his wife; concerns the new reglamentos de presidio approved by the king and implemented by Bucareli, article related to monies set aside for troops was implemented when Durango and Alamo treasuries could not provide necessary funds, Guadalajara assets would be used, as a result of this the establishment of the paymaster's office in Chihuahua and allowing Esconsa to draw from this institution, mentions the establishment of various pagadurias and other institutions used to provide for troops. Neve attests to fact that his province produces the income enough to provide for troops, asks to be exempt from the charges made upon his area, death of neves followed by an examination of the state of revenues in the pagaduria de Arispe, administrator of revenues states that method of providing revenues to internal provinces must be found, intendent of Sonora recommends a tax to be established to preclude interesados from getting exemptions. Rangel submits two state of accounts, one that refers to consignments from Vizcaya and Mexico, and the other that refers to consignments from Sonora, only treasury from Guadalajara would be remittable. Correspondence of Loyola and the treasurer of Chihuahua follows as they demonstrate the necessity of los productos de rentas for the financial solvency needed to provide for the troops, documents show how funds were taken from different geographic locations to provide for those areas in the most need. In the note accompanying this document mention is made of a military inspection with results of retired and invalid soldiers to be provided so the real tribunal can better budget its sources; decision made to situate the paymaster's office mentioned earlier in Saltillo because of its central location, index of meetings of the junta Superior to discuss location of Pagaduria; letter describing jurisdictional problems as they relate to sending revenues to the capital, revenues coming from tobacco and excise taxes. Concerns approval that Ugarte y Loyola gave Pacheco's request for additional gratification funds (discussed in preceeding folios), mentions documents related to the state of horses, request for the current status of accounts dealing with rifles and gunpowder, salary raise suggested for Pacheco denied; before commencing with gratifications to Lipanes, junta Superior de real hacienda reviewed matter and gave responsibility of distribution to Ugalde; Comanches Orientales not to be one of the groups to which gifts are given to, reasons for this decision are located on ff. 0460-0461 and have lines crossing pages out, mentions the establishment of peace with Comanches during this time period, request for an estimate of the value of the goods being given to the Indians and also gives the transportation costs to San Luis Potosi, mentions need for information concerning gratifications to Comanches (earlier had mentioned not giving gifts to the Comanches), and reimbursement of funds used for gift giving. Ff. 0383 - 0392 concern the retirement benefits of Lacumba being discounted by the amount that he owes the compania de Laredo, half of his salary; recalculation of the amount that Lacumba actually owes; Calleja responds to the two previous letters; document that traces the subject discussed, includes detailed financial information on how the amount was arrived at. Additional documentation on the subject of the abilitado's calculations; ff. 0393 concerns Farias' petition to contract marriage; ff. 0394 concerns the accounts that deal with gifts made to Indians supplied from the funds of primera and tercera compania volantes; ff. 0395-0398 concerns the case formed against Garza for revoltoso y seductor de los indios, gives el gato as nickname of Garza; Felix Calleja Lets Yturrigaray know that as soon as he receives the proper paperwork he will have the prisoner Garza transferred; ff. 0399 concerns the case formed against Castillo because of his treatment of his wife Garcia, document refers to relevant code that is being used in judicial proceeding, this code is apparently from one used in Cuba; ff. 0400-0401 concerns documentation ordered by Mosquera on matter of death of Ixart. First three folios of this Series are not documents but rather title pages; concerns the teniente Letrado Interino asking instructions on the method to exercise his duties during intendent's absence; concerns the reestablishment of the presidio of Durango; speaks of a letter from Medina highlighting the defects of ? According to the tesoreria de Chihuahua; speaks of the salary raise for the treasurer of the real caxa for Chihuagua and the translations of some junior officers which would should be changed; tribunal de Cuentas found problems with the libranzas from Chihuagua with an index of correspondence concerning this matter. First two letters in this Series barely legible; followed by an index of correspondence that centers around military fiscal affairs for the year 1801; commentary on the decisions of the junta Superior on matters related to accounts for military finances, index continues into March of 1803, speaks of matters such as the percentage to be Charged on bills of exchange, the reestablishment of the rescate de oroy plata , military communications, transportation costs; beginning with ff. 0268 sequence of folios was photographed on top of folio 0279; real tribunal answering questions as to whether or not the percentage being Charged on bills of exchange was producing some benefit to the real hacienda in light of the administrative costs associated with it, answers that there have occurred some controversies associated with payments of salaries in the presidios. There has been limited implementation of the percentage mentioned in order not to jeopardize the integrity of the general funds, the percentage has been changed to 12 percent (from 1 12 percent) in light of its deleterious effects, ff. 0268-0278 not decipherable due to half pages being copied, upside down and reversed placement etc.; index mentioned earlier resumes on ff. 0279 with basically the same type of abstracts (tracing the correspondence related to the accounts and their submission to periodically to the real tribunal de Cuentas); letter from Nava informing Berenguer de Marquina that the estados de ingreso, salidas, y existencia de Caudales de la real caxa of Arispe was sent to him by Guebara; index mentioned above ends with February 3, 1810. Concerns the internal treasurer of Chihuagua, instructions to him to precharge 1/2 percent on bills of exchange as per Nava; letter requesting sums of money for the royal treasuries of Arispe and Chihuahua; the preceeding abstract is part of an index of letters written in 1796 concerning military finances which traces correspondence between the real tribunal de Cuentas, junta Superior and others, ff. 257-260 illedgible, Series resumes being legible with ff. 0261; index of quadernos concerning the assets used to pay salaries of troops, employees, and synods, number of quadernos indexed is 21, they begin with the year 1773, quadernos dealt with such things as reforms taken in procedure to promote efficiency , the establishment of accounts, tobacco, change of die-stamp on money, reconciling entries, establishment of Pagaduria in Arispe in order to pay troops, methods of reimbursement, establishment of Pagaduria for payment of synods to missions, information on salaries, sums of money needed to quell Indian rebellions. Letter from Nava telling virrey that he has received documentation relative to the paz y guerra account; letter from Nava to marques de Branciforte pertaining to the reconciliations of the above account; account was not formally closed due to the death of Cabo-Franco (accountant), additional commentary on the reparos which appear in this volume on ff. 0186-0202, also covers how the surplus of this account was distributed, letter states that official closing of account is included (does not appear on reel); letter from real tribunal which requests proof of authenticity of claimed costs incurred in paz y guerra account; in general real tribunal satisfied with the presentation of the account by Cortes except for the proof in the reparos part of the account cited above. Letter to the contadores mayores which explains the document found in the previous Series which dealt with the paz y guerra account for Coahuila (ff. 0186-0202), the only additional information here is that the 6.000 peso sum is being cancelled in 1790 because hostilities with the Indians has resumed; mentions permission of Nava to spend amount on mules and other items related to this matter; sending of quadernos concerning costs incurred by Cortes in Bahia and the liquidation of the Same, adjust this account in relation to the real hacienda; remittance of materials related to aforementioned account to various officials; relacion that gives information on the gratificaciones given between 1787 and 1789, list of soldiers and cadets that were employed as scribes is given with corresponding salaries (1790 document); document containing correcting entries to paz y guerra account, the corrections made by real tribunal de Cuentas de Mexico and then sent to current governor Munoz.
