Tienda reports several Apache raids; Apaches kill people, take captives, and steal cattle near fronteras; soldiers kill some Indians and recover cattle. Apaches kill people and take horses near Terrenate. Soldiers encounter and fight Apaches along Jilla River. Troops of fronteras and Terrenate have been reinforced, and several soldier groups search for Apaches. In a fight near Chirriones soldiers recover an Opata and a Yaqui Indian taken captives by Apaches. Vildosola states Apaches seek peace and want to exchange prisoners with soldiers. Apaches state they want to be good and will behave; they want prisioner exchange to take place away from presidio for fear of being captured. Vildosola agrees hoping that Apaches would settle in reducciones. other documents on various raids conducted by Pimas and Seris. Pimas attack Soyapa killing people, taking cattle, and later hide in Cerro Prieto. Seris and Pimas kill people, take captives and cattle in Cumuripa. Soldiers attack them near Cerro Prieto killing some Indians and recovering cattle. Due to these raids, Tienda plans new campaigns against different Indian groups. (J. Tapia, April, 1988)

Discourse from Lumbreras, commander of presidio of Buenavista to viceroy Bucareli y Ursua concerning atrocities committed by Piatos and Pimas Bajos in Vicinity of aforementioned presidio. Atrocities include pervasive cattle and horse rustling, murder of Indians and a Spaniard, abduction of Indian woman. Lumbreras adds that he has no spare forces to battle unrest, and requests detachment of 20 or 30 soldiers be stationed at San Jose de Pimas to suppress Piman bellicosity and guard road to Cieneguilla. He also adds that lawless behavior manifested by Indian groups is result of semi-nomadic lifestyle. Included is letter to Lumbreras, forwarded to viceroy, from missionary at Tecoripa describing events which corroborates information given by Former. In responses to autos, viceroy suggests that Lumbreras commence further reduccion of barbarous Indians, using force if necessary; letter authorizing installation of Trespalacios as lieutenant of flying company of Buenavista upon retirement of Viarraga from position. As new commander, Lumbreras carries out order from Corbalan to station detachment of 20 soldiers and one oficial at Guaymas; investigates murder of indio hortalero and theft of cattle at Tonichi.
