Summary
Series of documents concerning the suspension of Francisco Lavastida's pay for not fulfilling his duties and obligations as contador de Navio de San Blas. Include reports from a surgeon and doctor concerning Lavastida's illness, letters commending his good work and letters from Lavastida protesting his suspension of pay. Lavastida mentions his part in preparing the delicate expedition of the British court to the american coast. Which was also the destination of the virrey; called the expedition de limites (f.188). Summary
Series of documents concerning change in Naval command due to death of contador and requesting permission to anchor in the port of Veracruz. Correspondence asking the viceroy to appoint a new contador for the San Pedro de Alcantara so that it can get underway. Letters concerning Monterde's promotion, his transfer to Spain and his request for passports to take his family with him. Correspondence concerning payment of ships crew includes a detailed accounting of sales of Plata during trip from San Blas to Vercruz and what money was used for. (S. Tisdale, October 1989)

Summary
Series of documents concerning the request to buy a ship and to conduct a commercial exchange of food and goods between Mexico and California using the frigate Concepcion. Correspondence mentions problems with fraud and contraband with commercial shippers. Perez is given permission to buy ship and to carry out a commercial expedition between San Blas and California in which he was ordered to obey all laws of Spain and America and to report all incidences, exchanges and people that he comes in contact with. Francisco Xavier Goni purchased ship (San Judas Fadeo) in the canaries and sailed for Havanna then Ostiones with load and passengers. After leaving Havana ship sank. Only few crew lived and told what happened. Documents verify discovery of wreckage parts and auction of same. Ff.131 appears to quote laws concerning finding of unclaimed objects. Ship's Matricula, ff. 155-156. Wages paid for unearthing of wreck, ff.111-114. Possible document of boat purchase by Goni, ff.162-163. Steal some of the wreckage from beach and were killed. Request made for money for Goni's widow, Maria Hernandez Goni. Ff.204 contains verification of the Goni's marriage, names their parents. (S. Langmack September 1989)

Sending original autos to governor Fages, lieutenant Diego Gonzales of San Diego brings forth criminal case against Yepes for having wounded 27-year-old cabin Boy Bueno of the frigate favorita. Includes Gonzales' interrogations of Bueno, Juan Antonio Gonzales, Segura, Morales, Vega, Otondo and Yepes. Includes certification by surgeons Carbajal and Comamalle of treatment of 5 wounds and medically specific locations of wounds. Yepes' punishment (issued by Navarro) is to work with rations but without salary for 6 years with his feet shackled- in public works. (J. Hiller, December 1988)
