Documentation
Mexico City. 1622-1630. 25 misiones. 456p. Letter. Original.
Summary
Each of these annual letters gives a status report on many collegios and seminarios run by Jesuits in New Spain. For example, a description of collegio de Mexico gives number of students and courses; student activities- fiestas, study habits, off hours. This type of description is given for each school. The letters also give information on the deaths of priests, relations with Indians, baptismal accounts, and general conditions of the church in each province of New Spain. Over all these letters offer excellent educational data concerning Jesuit activities for the years 1622-1630 in New Spain. (D. Miller) (1978)
