Unfortunately, 15 man escort from Gallo presidio unsufficient to protect sheepherders, etc. from attacks of rebel Indians. Allande orders Vergara to send the interpretor Antonio Garcia with a party of settlers and Indians to visit the Nabajo chiefs and determine the cause of the incident, and attempt to recover the animals taken in the raids. Petition before the royal Audiencia of Mexico by the Jesuit procurador of California that jurisdictions be restrained from charging illegal fees for the Passage of sheep from a hacienda owned by the order, also requests that sheperds be allowed to bear arms.
