Summary
Document concerns payment of salary to Castro and his embarkment from Veracruz to puerto Rico where he will assume governorship. Castro's ill health forces him to go to Mexico and delay trip. Castro's salary given. Castro requests right to freely transport luggage and other items from Mexico to puerto Rico. F. 28 gives regulations concerning quantity of money each class of military personnel is allowed to transfer from one country to another. Rest of Series concerns important rules and regulations governing Colonial trade. F. 30 mentions real Orden of 1779 establishing taxes and other rules for exporting gold and silver from America to Spain. F. 33 describes shipment of cacao from Guayaquil to Spain and import Fee levied on said shipment. 1774 decree of commerce of the quatro reynos stated relating to gold and silver from Peru and Guatemala. Taxes on gold and silver reiterated , as well as, need for laws relating to import of soldiers, wine, sugar, and fruit. Final folios resolve Castro's case and determines amount of goods he can import to puerto Rico, duty-free. (P. Lenz, March1990)

Summary
Index of letters that are included in this Series; Bonavia establishes duty on goods entering the port of Sonora, models it on San Blas duty at meeting of junta provisional de real hacienda; letter from virrey acknowledging receipt of above letter; intendent of Guadalaxara receives information on meeting of junta provisional; long letter furnishing information on the regulations, rights, and other details of the process by which duties are Charged in San Blas, letter divided into 28 capitulos which in general discuss; the distinction between duties and taxes and the related question of jurisdiction, economic motivation for their imposition and effect on commerce and prices, importation of cotton from Panama and foreign producers and a complete list of the duties Charged on this merchandise. Cites the increased costs being suffered because of the revolution in the context of seeking additional revenue, cites the benefits to the port of San Blas because of the increase in commerce, mention made of the taxes and duties Charged on goods that are foreign but have gone through Spain before coming into the Americas, more specifically there are different rates on foreign goods that have been espanolizado depending on which american port they enter, San Blas has a privileged status in this regard; second half of letter titled derecho de entreda, duros de internacion , up until capitulo 12 has a description of duty Fee percentages, the prestamo patriotico is reduced by 1/2 percent for those who pay duties, comparison of these rates with those in Lima - compare favorably, virrey has stated that the charging of these duties should be arranged so as to most resemble reglamento Al comercio Libre del Ano de 1778, lists the taxes that will be paid on foreign goods that first are espanolizados and pass through Guatemala, Santa Fe, and Peru before passing through the port of San Blas, analysis in the change of these taxes with those that had been inuse before, lists the commodities that will be Charged duties, last part of letter goes into the context of the situation as justification for these new taxes and lastly cites all the names of those who were part of the junta general and were witness to these new changes. Summary
Index which indicates that Arredonda has asked the administradores de rentas to supply him with the accounts of the branches they administer; Arredondo has heard that some administrators have not deposited certain sums and he theorizes that these sums are being used for speculation and commerce. Once this has been corrected sums in question will be used on troops. Requests accounting procedures information from administrators of bullets, gunpowder, tobacco, and naypes; letter written in response to order concerning accounts for tobacco and bullets, special care to be taken in maintaining confidentiality of the numbers; letter written by bennalz stating among other things that the proper paperwork is not available for tabulation mentioned above; request for totals of Tobaco, bullets, and gunpowder in the Provincias Internas de oriente since the beginning of the rebellion, has positive proof that administradors of said goods have been involved in embezzlement; asks that following areas hand in the required information without delay - Puebla, Veracruz, Yucutan, Oaxaca, and Cuanaxuabo; letter from intendente of Puebla stating that his records only go back as far as 1814; letter from intendente of Puebla stating that information requested has been sent to the real tribunal; information on goods mentioned above for Provincias Internas have been sent to the customs offices of Aguayo, Monterrey, and Coahuila. Inventory of objects at time of Jesuit expulsion of properties of the hacienda de Ibarra. Major sections clearly indicated and divided into numbered fardos. Careful description of all items give quantities, varieties, prices and often place of manufacture or procurement. Goods include funds on hand from salaries, furniture, and merchandise in warehouse of hacienda. Principle especially food, Chocolate, cacao, cloth, clothing and sewing supplies, wine, swords and weapons, equestrian tack, blankets, and religious items. Summary
Inventory at Jesuit college of San Andres taken after order's expulsion. Different sections clearly indicated and divided into 56 fardos. Items detailed in warehouse and for servants use clothing, household goods, food supplies, generos sueltos, spices, Chocolate, cacao, iron bars, writing paper, types and origin and manufacture of swords, merchandise, funds on hand, furniture and religious objects.
