Summary
Garcia conde petitions virrey for additional weapons and training funds to eradicate Opata depredations along northwestern frontier. Also requests more tobacco, corn and meat rations for distribution to Apaches for agreeing to peace treaty. Garcia conde attributes actions of Opatas to conditions of misery which the Spaniards have left unattended, and contends that Apaches will follow suit if nothing is done. (A. Tukey, March 1989)
