Libro de cuentas Chichimecas v.
Mexico. 1654-1684. 100p. Original.
Financial accounts kept by Spanish crown entitled Chichimecas-expenses related to expansion in the north during decades of 1650's, 60's and 70's. Payments to religious orders of Jesuits, Franciscans and Augustinians are mostly limosnas (stipends) but numbers of priests in various missionary areas are specified. Payrolls are given for each presidio, occasionally to name of each soldier and officer but other expenses are not detailed except monies evidently advanced to officers in a type of petty cash account. Rich in names and places. Particularly for military. (D. Deeds) (1977)
