Summary
Greatly distressed over the marques de la Penuela's handling of financial matters, the presidials present a written complaint and petition to the cabildo of Santa Fee, seeking redress of their grievances. They accuse the marques of cheating them on the prices of merchandise, and of being extremely in arrears in his payments of salaries. Which, they continue, has placed many of them in extreme circumstances. They also complain about being made to toil excessively, and not having arms to defend themselves. In their complaint, they have received the written and undersigned support of fray Juan de Tagle and other priests. (Lloyd Kendall) (1980)
