A continuation in the resistance to the presidial reforms of Pedro de Rivera. Soldiers who have rebelled because of the cut in salary, are forgiven and reinstituted as loyal citizens and soldiers. (T. Barnes) (1977)

During his inspection of northern presidios, Pedro de Rivera decides the salary of presidial soldiers should be lowered 100 pesos, from 450 to 350. Petitions come to governor immediately in protest. Some members of the compania de volante rebel and take to mountains. Ex-governor Manuel de San Juan Santa Cruz mediates and is able to end the affair in peacefully. Pascual Saenz, soldier at Conchos presidio, convicted of desertion, but sentence commuted because Saenz had wife, children to support. Wife Maria Dominguez de Mendoza's intercession for Saenz apparently influenced commutation. (T. Sheridan) (1976)

Soldiers of compania de Compana of Nueva Vizcaya petition Audiencia for payment of salaries owed them by Miguelena, their abiador. Similar petition filed by soldiers of Gallo, el Pasaje, Cerrogordo, Conchos presidios. Mention of criminal case against 16 soldiers from Cerrogordo for desertion filed by Phelipe de Orozco, as well as similar desertion at Conchos because of excessive prices soldiers had to pay for supplies.
