Doctors report that Gutierrez de la Pena is a melancholic hypochodriac and this mental illness makes him unable to Vote in case. Other in case judges have died before voting; also review of those who voted and dissension among judges which has caused delays. Escandon mention that around 200 soldiers will pursue the Indians Sihuy until they are exterminated; the other Series of documents are dealing with requested permission from Boix to virrey. Boix presents virrey two medical statements from convents of San Diego and San Francisco, where the doctors conclude that the illness of Boix is una afeccion histerica hipocondriaca. Fiscal suggests virrey not give permission because those concepts are confusing, besides the law says Boix has to remain Ten years before leaving; virrey orders Arzobispo to name other doctors to determine the disease of Boix. F.137 lists arms received by Reina (sent from his home); lists to whom of his company arms are distributed. F.139-140 Aguilar reports on situation of Mesquital; convent hosted Flores, 30 soldiers. F.141 are medical credentials, license of Ruiz Calero, being hired by San Juan Hospital. Ff.145-158 are brief reports tracking troop movements, preparation for reconquest of Nayarit from Nueva Vizcaya. F.150 is nearly illegible letter by Ernandes describing famine in Tenaraca, barely enough corn to ration to citizens, none for Indians. (A. Dean, January 1990)

Ill health of Emparan forces him to seek cure in Orizava and abandon previous plans. Letter from Emparan's doctor verifies and describes his illness at F. 178. Illness described as scabies and its symptoms described. Cure of rest, serenity, and medication advised. Emparan remains in Orizava six months until healed. Other documents relate granting of governorship of Coahuila to Emparan. Governor's salary stated in F. 182. Emparan's post in dragones de Espana described and he is advised to reincorparate himself in said company. Emparan rejoins compania de dragones de Chalchicomula after cure from illness. (P. Documents concerning a trial and resolution against three military officers on charge of taking license without permission from accusation of Arminan. Vargases (brothers) appeal to Arredondo. Casanova also appeals to Arredondo, requesting he intercede, includes medical testimony. Arminan suspends the three. Arredondo sends the case to auditor de Guerra, who releases them of all charges (D. Bautista, March 1990).
