Due to illness the regimiento de Extremadura is left without a leader as well as the Provincia de Texas being without a governor. Lopez was sent to Texas to take over military and political functions, receives notice later to leave his post as governor of Texas feels his reputation injured but stays on. Arredondo had troops of area moved to Monclova despite the fact that rebels were expected to arrive by ship, action was taken because Lopez had intimated that he would not mobilize troops in the face of rebel attack, also is accused of impeding shipment of goods to troops, Lopez also given order to retire all captains who were not properly equipped to their homes and that they should not be receiving salaries because without the necessary arms and horses they were useless as soldiers. Lopez did not comply; barely legible letter by bacallo saying that Lopez is justifiably upset over being removed from post; mentions the effects of the scarcity of tobacco mentioned earlier, Echandia proposed as new Head of the Provincia de Texas, advisor suggests that the military conflict that would ensue the dismissal of Lopez and the replacement by Echandia is not worth it, Lopez was an interim governor because of illness of the governor and teniente Coronel, he however was not aware of this and therein lies the problem; final decision being that Lopez should reintegrate himself back into the regimiento de Extremadura. Confirmation of providencias issued to California, Nueva Vizcaya, Nueva Mexico, Sonora stating no indio mestizo or other tributary caste may relocate from his residence without civil and parochial certification of marital, familial, tribal status. Rengel's correspondence with Flores requesting transfer to Mexico for health reasons. Flores suggests Rengel seek treatment in Sonora and assume command of forces there due to gravity of ongoing war there. Rengel repeats request for transfer citing lack of medical facilities in Sonora, noting competence of officers already in command there. Ugarte y Loyola acknowledges Flores' order that command of provincial forces be split in two and Rengel be made commander of Sonoran forces. (J. Higgins. March 1989)

Documents concerning arrest, transport, quartering of Dufay. Dufay complains of mistreatment, of lesser men receiving military promotions over him, as reason for resigning. Concerning money apparently owed Dufay to reimburse what he paid Indian spies. F.571 concerns events of search for San Christobal rebels, reduccion of those captured. In F.576 Dufay requests licence to return to switzerland because he is too poor to support himself in Nueva Espana. (A. Dean, September 1989)

Series of documents dealing with the home arrest of Alferez Dufay. He argues that personal discrepancies with high ranking military assistance to the comander of Nuevo Reyno de Leon, are the causes the unfair treatment he receives. This documents is full of details envolving possible reasons why Dufay deserved to be arrested, I. E. Disorganized corn distribution to Indians in San Cristobal mission and bad aministration of resources and supplies.
