Summary
Confirmation of providencias issued to California, Nueva Vizcaya, Nueva Mexico, Sonora stating no indio mestizo or other tributary caste may relocate from his residence without civil and parochial certification of marital, familial, tribal status. Rengel's correspondence with Flores requesting transfer to Mexico for health reasons. Flores suggests Rengel seek treatment in Sonora and assume command of forces there due to gravity of ongoing war there. Rengel repeats request for transfer citing lack of medical facilities in Sonora, noting competence of officers already in command there. Ugarte y Loyola acknowledges Flores' order that command of provincial forces be split in two and Rengel be made commander of Sonoran forces. (J. Higgins. March 1989)

Summary
Includes expedientes 2,3 and 4, 'consultas' of gobernador of Nuevo Santander regarding various issues. Numero 2 concerns request by gobernador for assistance in moving group of prisoners to Mexico City. In 3 individuals who received land through 'repartimiento' have sold it to others, and failed to inform government of change in ownership, causing confusion. In 3, several members of company which has seen constant battle request retirement with 'sueldo de invalido,' request denied. (L. Kerr, June 1989)

F. 522 lists full name, all titles of Florez on printed form documenting Dufay's promotion to Alferez Primero in Nuevo Leon volante; includes elaborately drawn coat of arms for Florez. Letters concerning Dufay's retirement, cessation of pay. F.541 mentions Dufay in charge of reduccion of San Christoval Indians, who fled to Sierra Madre; mentions Indian spies (no specifics). (A.
