Informatin regarding border troops, officials and their obligations, Indian hostilities, and real hacienda. Discussion of military salaries and relation to treasury. Difficulty in reducing rebellious Capitancillos who rob by night. Position of Pagador (mayor Oficial de la Caxa del Rosario) mentioned. Much information regarding economizing of expenses. (J. Summary
Florez orders that governors and comandantes of Sonora and Nueva Viscaya obey instructions given by Galvez for administration of those provincias. Ugarte y Loyola reports that instructions include establishment of a comercio general to regulate expenses required to bring Indians to peace. Also discussed are means to augment salaries of officials and troops without greatly depleting treasury, including dismissal of unuseful officials. On behalf of Florez, Rengel requests information regarding troops, classes of enemies and most effective ways to contain them. Request made for information regarding conditions in Nueva Mexico, Nueva Viscaya, and Sonora. (J. Hiller, June 1989)
