Summary
Ugalde suggests necessity of total war on all Indians, in response to their cruelties. However, they can't be fought in european style, can't be conquered by force, must be done by cleverness. Ugalde wants to weed out half-wits from companies, stop working with ignorant, useless Milicias, fight more of a guerrilla war with only those capable of it. Plan described for controlling surrendered Indians; includes banning all weapons from them, severely punishing anyone caught making arrows; also discusses points of settlement structure, agriculture, etc. (A. Dean, Jul 1990)

Summary
Coronel Escandon, in charge of the conquest and colonization of territories north and northeast of Mexico City, reports about the preparation of the expedition. He plans to attack from all possible sides at the same time, counting for this on the cooperation of the military authorities of all the military detachments of the area (he specifies how many soldiers will provided by each of them). He thinks this strategy will result in a better control over the area than the classical isolated military raids. The authorities give him full support, but warn him against using any violence with the Chichimecas unless strictly necessary. (A. Nielsen, October 1989)
